The Nepathya band began from early 90’s and it is one of the famous Nepalese rock and roll bands from Pokhara, Nepal. He and his crew founded the band when they were college students studying in Kathmandu. Every song of Nepathya is related to either culture, dress and love or all. They used short and simple words which stole the heart of audiences. Songs like – Resham, Khanna Ma Ta Laam Patey Surti, Jomsoma Bajar Ma are the top hits list which influenced the large number of children to youths. The struggle and hard work of all the crew members took the band to its peak. The songs touch the heart of every Nepalese speaking people around the world. During College days , they just performed in the annual program of school but later when the song started to hit the public they were on the top bands of Nepal. The moving force behind this band is Amrit Gurung who was the vocalist from the onset of the band. Nepathya is best known for blending folk melodies with modern western-influenced rock music. Amrit Gurung was the follower of Mahatma Gandhi who always promoted peace and harmony. The influenced of Gandhi can be observed in Nepathya songs which are
also based on peace and harmony. They encourage people to live peacefully in the community. In the first year of their career they released the album Nepathya in 1991 which features Barashat ko Mausom. It was a big hit at that time. They released a total number of nine albums with different hit songs. They made a revolution in the Nepalese music and climbed to the top band of Nepal. The melody of the music is peaceful and sweet. His songs are related to everyday people’s life. Audiences feel that those songs are telling the story of their life. His lyrics contain the word from the village area where people used it every day. This helped them to be the best in the nation. The songs were inspired by simple, everyday things. Nepathya songs are made to promote peace and harmony among the people and to provide positive message.
With the big success of Nepathay they released their second album Himal Chuchure in the year 1993. This also was a big hit and earned revenue close to the album Nepathya. This album was based on the natural beauty of Nepal and the love of the country. They tried to promote the natural beauty of Nepal which also helps to promote the domestic tourism of Nepal. All the song from Nepathya band are sung by Amrit Gurung who is the back bone of the band. The vision of Nepathay is to promote peace and they are strongly dedicated to harmony among people. They have a desire to keep the fear of loneliness and suffering away from a peaceful life. With the help of the music this legendary
group of men tried to change things to make the community a better place. The Nepathya always dreamt about having a peaceful and joyful life around them.
Nepathya band offered something new to the people and a new taste of music. They are not only famous in Nepal but around the world. They organized concerts in different places of the world where Nepali speaking people reside. Nepathya became the first Nepalese band to perform at Wembley Arena UK on August 3, 2013. Nepathya was successfully charmed 8000 strong Wembley Crowd and the concert was a huge success. It was the very first time that a Nepali band made its way to Wembley and the box office success was overwhelming. Nepathya’s Wembley Arena concert is so far the largest ever performance by a Nepali Band.
